Purpose
- Higher-nickel, low-hydrogen basic electrode, the second step of the cold-service sub-family (AWS E8018-C1 H4, EN ISO E 46 6 2 Ni B 42 H5).
Why it works
More than double the nickel of FERVEO HTS 460B6 1Ni HD P2 C3 extends the guaranteed service temperature further into the cold, at the same mechanical-strength step — aimed at low-alloy nickel steels used in cold service.
Fields of application
- Low-alloy, fine-grained nickel steel for cold service.

Advantages
- Wider cold-end service-temperature margin than FERVEO HTS 460B6 1Ni HD P2 C3, at the same mechanical-strength step.
- Higher deposit recovery.
Limitations
- For even more demanding cryogenic service, see FERVEO HTS 460B6 3Ni.
