Classification

AWS classE 8018 - G H4
EN ISO classE 46 6 1Ni B 42 H5

Purpose

  • Nickel-alloyed, low-hydrogen basic electrode (H4), one step above FERVEO HTS 420B6 (AWS E 8018-G H4, EN ISO E 46 6 1Ni B 42 H5).

Why it works

Same Ni-alloying principle as FERVEO HTS 420B6, tuned for the next mechanical-strength step up — keeps the same low-hydrogen basic coating character and welding-position range.

Fields of application

  • Carbon-manganese structural steel and mid-to-high grade API 5L pipe (up to X65), in general construction and equipment fabrication.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages

  • One mechanical-strength step above FERVEO HTS 420B6, with the same low-hydrogen discipline (H4).

Limitations

  • No published deposit-recovery figure for this reference — see FERVEO HTS 420B6 or 500B3 if that figure is decisive.
  • For duty requiring toughness at lower service temperatures, see the FERVEO HTS 460B6 Ni/2Ni/3Ni sub-family.
