Purpose
- Basic-coated Cr-Ni-Mn electrode (18.5% Cr · 8.6% Ni · 6% Mn), AWS ~E 307-15 / EN ISO E 18 8 Mn B 22, for joining dissimilar steels and hard-to-weld manganese steel.
Why it works
The basic coating gives better toughness and hot-cracking resistance than an equivalent rutile electrode — that's why the 307 family is used to join dissimilar metals, 14% Mn steel and armor plate, where cracking risk runs high.
Fields of application
- Joining of high-resistance alloyed and unalloyed steels, armor steels and hard manganese steel (14% Mn), including non-magnetic steels.
- Joint welding between dissimilar metals.

Advantages
- Deposit resistant to corrosion, wear, and thermal shock.
- Wide service range: -100°C to +500°C.
Limitations
- The deposit work-hardens due to its manganese content (6%) — machine before it hardens, like the rest of the 307 family.
