Purpose

  • Cr-Mo-Nb hardfacing electrode (EN ISO E Fe6, DIN 8555 E6-UM-60), 56–59 HRC — for earth-moving equipment and crusher wear parts.

Why it works

Niobium added to the Cr-Mo base gives an abrasion-resistant deposit intended for direct application on the first passes — from the third pass onward, the manufacturer requires a buffer layer suited to the base material grade.

Fields of application

  • Earth-moving equipment and crusher wear parts.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages

  • Can be applied directly onto the base metal for the first two passes, without a prior buffer layer.
  • Good abrasion resistance for general earth-moving use.

Limitations

  • From the third pass onward, requires a buffer layer matched to the base material grade (e.g. FERVEO HRF 63, HRF 250, INX 307, or HRF 14 Mn) — don't keep applying FERVEO HRF 650 directly in thick layers.
  • On hardenable steels, requires preheating to 100–300°C.
