Purpose
- Submerged-arc (SAW) flux-cored wire, 17% Cr ferritic stainless steel — buffer layer before hardfacing continuous-casting rolls with FERVEO INX 410NiMo LH/MH FCW.
Why it works
A soft, tough ferritic deposit (≈200 HV) laid down first absorbs the dilution and stress between the base metal and the much harder overlay applied on top — without this buffer, the martensitic hardfacing layer would be far more prone to cracking or spalling at the base-metal interface.

- Buffer layer before hardfacing continuous-casting rolls, shafts, and similar parts.

Advantages
- Purpose-built as the layer preceding FERVEO INX 410NiMo LH/MH FCW hardfacing — not meant as a wear surface on its own.
- Good combined resistance to elevated temperature, corrosion, and friction/adhesive wear.
Limitations
- Not a wear-resistant overlay on its own (≈200 HV) — always needs the harder FERVEO INX 410NiMo LH/MH FCW layer on top for actual wear service.
- Used with FERVEO FLX BSS-F flux — not a general-purpose wire.
