Purpose

  • TIG rod version of the Cr-Ni-Mo INX 317L wire — same use on 317/317L stainless with chloride pitting resistance.

Why it works

Same alloy as INX 317L MIG, as a TIG rod (DC-, I1 gas) — fine puddle control for root passes on equipment exposed to chlorides.

Fields of application

  • DIN 1.4429, 1.4438, 1.4439, 1.4583 (317/317L stainless steel).
  • High-chloride environments and some acids (excluding nitric).

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Base metals

Advantages

  • Better chloride pitting resistance than INX 316LSi.
  • Controlled TIG arc — suits root passes.

Limitations

  • Not recommended for nitric acid service.
