Purpose
- Cr-Ni-Mo 19/14/3.5 solid wire for 317/317L stainless — the raised molybdenum gives better pitting resistance in high-chloride environments and against some acids.
Why it works
Higher molybdenum than INX 316LSi (3.5% vs 2.6%) specifically improves resistance to chloride pitting — relevant in marine or brackish-water environments — and to some acids, though NOT nitric acid.
Fields of application
- DIN 1.4429, 1.4438, 1.4439, 1.4583 (317/317L stainless steel).
- High-chloride environments and some acids (excluding nitric).

Advantages
- Better chloride pitting resistance than INX 316LSi.
- Weldable on MIG/MAG and TIG.
Limitations
- Not recommended for nitric acid service.
