Material no. (W.-Nr.)1.4820

Purpose

  • Mo-free austenitic Cr-Ni 26/5 solid wire, corrosion-resistant and resistant to sulphur attack at high temperature — scaling-resistant to 1150°C.

Why it works

DIN 1.4820 alloy (Cr-Ni 26/5, molybdenum-free) — designed as the final top layer over a more ductile filling layer (e.g. FERVEO INX 310), with good resistance to sulphur attack in combustion atmospheres up to 1150°C.

Fields of application

  • Equivalent/comparable Mo-free corrosion-resistant steels and castings (DIN 1.4713, 1.4724, 1.4742, 1.4762, 1.4821, 1.4823).
  • Combustion atmospheres with high-temperature sulphur attack.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages

  • Scaling-resistant to 1150°C.
  • Good resistance to hot sulphur attack.
  • Weldable on MIG/MAG and TIG.

Limitations

  • Intended for continuous high-temperature oxidation resistance; if the part cools after prolonged exposure at 600–900°C, room-temperature toughness may drop due to sigma-phase formation.
