Purpose
- Fast-freezing rutile flux-cored wire, over-alloyed 309L-type austenitic-ferritic deposit, ferrite optimized for joining dissimilar metals.
Why it works
Flux-cored version of the 309L family — ferrite tuned specifically for joining different compositions, including carbon steel to stainless, and as a buffer layer before cladding.
Fields of application
- Joining of similar-composition steels and carbon steel to stainless steel.
- Buffer layer before cladding.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages
- Service range -60°C to +350°C.
Limitations
- High ferrite content in the deposit: risk of sigma-phase embrittlement under sustained exposure at 600–900°C — not recommended for critical structures in that range.
