Purpose

  • Ni-Mo, low-hydrogen basic electrode (H4) with CTOD-certified toughness (AWS E 8018-G H4, EN ISO E 55 6 1 NiMo B 42 H5) — the AWS class-80 variant of this NiMo step in the FERVEO HTS ladder.

Why it works

The Ni-Mo combination gives a step up in both mechanical strength and low-temperature toughness over the B3/1Ni sub-family, with an impact test certified at low temperatures and, in this reference, toughness additionally certified by CTOD — a fracture-mechanics figure not seen on the ladder's lower steps.

Fields of application

  • High-strength fine-grained structural steels, carbon steel and cast steel where toughness matters, and API 5L pipe up to X70.
