Material no. (W.-Nr.)1.4459

Purpose

  • TIG rod version of the Cr-Ni-Mo INX 309LMo wire — same use joining carbon/low-alloy steel to corrosion-resistant stainless.

Why it works

Same alloy as INX 309LMo MIG, as a TIG rod (DC-, I1 gas) — fine puddle control for root passes and intermediate layers.

Fields of application

  • Joining unalloyed or low-alloy steel to corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
  • Intermediate layers in dissimilar-steel joining.

Replaces INERTROD 309LMo (Oerlikon)Direct replacement

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages

  • Additional molybdenum (2.6%) — higher corrosion resistance than INX 309LSi.
  • Controlled TIG arc — suited to root passes.

Limitations

  • High ferrite content in the deposit: risk of sigma-phase embrittlement under sustained exposure at 600–900°C — not recommended for critical structures in that range.
