Classification

Purpose

  • Basic-coated electrode from the 308H family, controlled carbon (0.04–0.08%) for AISI 304H and creep-strength applications.

Why it works

Same as standard INX 308, except carbon is restricted to 0.04–0.08% — raising tensile and hot creep strength. Deposit ferrite is targeted around 5 FN to minimize sigma-phase embrittlement in high-temperature service.

Fields of application

  • Welding of AISI 304H and equivalent steels requiring creep strength.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages

  • Higher tensile and hot creep strength than standard INX 308.
  • Ferrite targeted at ~5 FN — lower sigma-phase embrittlement risk.

Limitations
