Purpose

  • Chromium hardfacing electrode (AWS/EN ISO E 10-UM-60 GRZ, DIN 8555 E Fe14), 58–62 HRC — for parts exposed to abrasion combined with light impact: conveyor screws, mixer blades, mud pumps.

Why it works

High chromium content (29%) together with high carbon (3.2%) forms a dense network of chromium carbides in the deposit — much harder and more abrasion-resistant than the FERVEO HRF 600 family (Mo/V-alloyed), at the cost of greater brittleness under impact.

Fields of application

  • Conveyor screws, mixer blades, mud pumps, and similar parts with abrasion combined with light impact.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages

  • Much higher hardness and abrasion resistance than the FERVEO HRF 600 family.
  • Alternative for the final layer when FERVEO HRF 600 doesn't provide enough hardness.

Limitations

  • Unlike FERVEO HRF 600/650, do not apply more than two filling passes with this electrode, and do not hammer or water-cool the hot bead — those techniques are for HRF 600/650, not for this harder family.
  • More brittle under impact than FERVEO HRF 600 — reserve for the final hard layer, over a tougher filling layer.
