Purpose
- Medium-hardness (240-280 HB) surfacing electrode for shafts, gears, couplings and rails under compression and wear.
- Also works as a buffer layer under harder overlays, on carbon and low-alloy steel.
Why it works
The low-alloy ferritic deposit gives moderate but very tough hardness — it resists compression without cracking, which is why it works equally well as a final layer or as an anchor base for a harder overlay on top.
Fields of application
- Surfacing shafts, gear wheels, couplings and rails.
- Buffer layer under harder overlays, on carbon and low-alloy steel.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.
Advantages
- Good toughness at medium hardness — resists compression without cracking.
- Serves as an anchor base for harder overlays.
