Purpose

  • Nickel-iron TIG rod (AWS ERNiFe-CI, EN ISO S C NiFe-1) — welding ductile, malleable, and grey cast iron with TIG or TIG process.

Why it works

Same logic as the FON NiFe electrode (iron raises strength versus a pure-nickel filler), but in rod form under gas shielding — the MIG/TIG process allows finer dilution control than a coated electrode, giving the highest mechanical strength in the FERVEO FON family.

Fields of application

  • Welding ductile, malleable, and grey cast iron.

Advantages

  • The highest mechanical strength in the FERVEO FON family.
  • Weldable in TIG and also in TIG — better dilution control than a coated electrode.

Limitations

  • The cracking risk from carbon dilution out of the cast iron is still present, as with any cast-iron welding — poorly controlled heat input can still harden the heat-affected zone.
