Purpose

  • Iron-bearing aluminum bronze solid TIG rod (CuAl10, 8.5-11% Al, 0.5-1.5% Fe), stronger than CUP AL8 TIG — joining copper-aluminum alloys and surfacing on steel.

Why it works

The added iron (0.5-1.5%) refines the grain and raises strength (Rm 450 MPa, hardness 130 HB) versus CUP AL8 MIG (Rm 430 MPa, 100 HB) — a mid-tier aluminum bronze, between AL8 and the nickel-bearing variants.

Fields of application

  • Joining copper-aluminum and copper-copper alloys.
  • Surfacing unalloyed and low-alloy steels, and cast steel parts.

Advantages

  • Higher strength and hardness than CUP AL8 MIG (Rm 450 MPa, 130 HB).

Limitations

  • Not suitable for oxy-fuel gas welding.
  • Lower ductility than CUP AL8 MIG (A5 20% versus 40%).
