Purpose
- Aluminum bronze MIG rod (≈8% Al) for joining aluminum bronzes and copper alloys, and for surfacing on steel.
Why it works
The ≈8% aluminum content gives a bronze deposit with useful hardness (≈100 HB) and high ductility (A5 ≈40%, KV 100 J): it withstands friction between metal surfaces without losing toughness. On unalloyed steel it acts as a wear-resistant, protective sliding layer.
Fields of application
- Joining aluminum bronzes (7-9% Al) and copper-copper alloys (DIN 2.0920-2.0962).
- Surfacing unalloyed and low-alloy steels, and cast steel parts.
- Thermal spraying of copper alloys.
