Purpose

  • Aluminum bronze covered electrode (ALBRONZE) for repairing all grades of aluminum bronze and surfacing cast iron, steel and copper subject to corrosion, cavitation, erosion and metal-to-metal wear.

Why it works

Aluminum bronze combines mechanical strength with a self-protecting aluminum-oxide layer — hence its specific use on parts exposed to seawater and marine environments, where galvanic corrosion would be a problem with other fillers.

Fields of application

  • Repairing aluminum bronzes of any grade.
  • Surfacing cast iron, steel and copper exposed to corrosion, cavitation and erosion.
  • Parts in marine and seawater service.

Advantages

  • Self-protecting oxide layer — good performance in marine environments.
  • Resists corrosion, cavitation, erosion and metal-to-metal wear.
  • Covered electrode — no shielding gas needed.

Limitations

  • No detailed chemistry/mechanical data in the supplier datasheet — see also the MIG variant (FERVEO CUP AL8 MIG) for mechanical values.
