Purpose
- High-silicon (12% Si) Al-Si solid wire for joining aluminum-silicon castings above 7% Si.
- Continuous-wire version of ALU 4047, for semi-automatic MIG/MAG process.
Why it works
Same principle as the ALU 4047 TIG rod — silicon near the Al-Si eutectic for maximum fluidity — in continuous-wire form for higher productivity on serial production of high-Si castings.
Fields of application
- Joining aluminum-silicon castings above 7% Si.
- Higher-volume semi-automatic production than the ALU 4047 TIG-rod process.

Advantages
- Highest fluidity in this datasheet — suitable for very-high-Si castings.
- Higher productivity than the TIG rod in serial production.
Limitations
- Lowest ductility in this datasheet (A5 5%) — even lower than the ALU 4047 rod (A5 8%).
- With Si content, the weld doesn't anodize to the same tone as the base metal.
