| Welding process | TIG Welding - Gas Welding |
Purpose
- High-silicon (12% Si) Al-Si TIG rod for joining and filling aluminum-silicon castings above 7% Si.
- Excellent fluidity — also suitable for oxy-acetylene welding and brazing.
Why it works
The elevated silicon (12%, near the Al-Si eutectic) gives the pool the highest fluidity in this datasheet, with a very narrow solidification range — hence its preferred use on very-high-Si castings where ALU 4043 may not flow enough, at the cost of lower ductility (A5 8%).
Fields of application
- Joining and filling aluminum-silicon castings above 7% Si.
- Oxy-acetylene welding and brazing (with GeKaTec F-LH1), in addition to TIG.

Advantages
- Highest fluidity in this datasheet — suitable for very-high-Si castings.
- Compatible with oxy-acetylene process in addition to TIG.
Limitations
- Lowest ductility in this datasheet (A5 8%) — the higher Si content versus ALU 4043 further reduces deposit ductility.
- With Si content, the weld doesn't anodize to the same tone as the base metal.
