Purpose
- Al-Si (5% Si) solid TIG rod for joining aluminum-silicon alloys and dissimilar aluminum alloys.
- Continuous-rod version of ALU 4043, for manual TIG process.
Why it works
Same principle as its MIG-wire twin (ALU 4043) — silicon (5%) improves fluidity and reduces hot cracking — but in TIG-rod form, with higher productivity on serial-production parts than the TIG-rod process.
Fields of application
- Joining aluminum-silicon alloys and dissimilar aluminum alloys.
- Higher-volume semi-automatic production than the ALU 4043 TIG-rod process.

Advantages
- Ideal for positional, root and precision work (where MIG wire cannot reach).
- Good fluidity and hot-cracking resistance, same as ALU 4043 rod.
Limitations
- With Si content, the weld doesn't anodize to the same tone as the base metal.
- Lower ductility (A5 15%) than this datasheet's Al-Mg alloys — not the first choice for demanding structural use.
