Classification

Purpose

  • Pure aluminum solid TIG rod with titanium (Al99.5Ti) exclusively for joining pure-aluminum alloys.
  • Ti refines the deposit's grain compared to ALU 1070/1080.

Why it works

Titanium (0.15%) acts as a grain refiner — the deposit solidifies with a finer grain than ALU 1070 or ALU 1080, slightly improving surface finish and reducing hot cracking on more complex geometries, without changing the deposit's pure-aluminum nature.

Fields of application

  • Joining pure-aluminum alloys where a fine-grain finish matters.
  • Complex-geometry parts where hot cracking is a greater risk.

Advantages

  • Finer grain than ALU 1070/1080 — better finish and lower hot-cracking risk.
  • Preserves pure aluminum's high conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Limitations

  • Very low mechanical strength (Rm 80 MPa) — not suitable for any structural application.
  • No base composition data in the supplier datasheet beyond the Ti — for the rest, see pure aluminum (ALU 1080).
