Classification

Purpose

  • Highly alloyed Mo-V-W solid wire (S Fe 4), high-speed-steel type, 57-62 HRC hardness — the highest in the TLS line.
  • Repair and new manufacture of cutting tooling: cutting tools, planer blades, lathe tools, broaches.

Why it works

Molybdenum (8.3%) together with vanadium (1.9%) and tungsten (1.8%) on a high-carbon base (1.0%) reproduces high-speed-steel metallurgy — the deposit is only machinable by grinding without prior annealing, the same trait that distinguishes a high-speed steel from a conventional tool steel.

Fields of application

  • Cutting tools, planer blades, lathe tools, broaches.
  • Repair and new manufacture of demanding cutting tooling.

Advantages

  • Highest hardness in the TLS line (57-62 HRC).
  • High-speed-steel metallurgy — retains cutting edge at elevated temperature.

Limitations

  • The deposit is only machinable by grinding — no conventional machining without prior annealing.
