Classification

Purpose

  • Self-shielded flux-cored wire, no shielding gas needed, for low-alloy steel (AWS E 71 TGS, EN ISO 17632-A T 42 Z W NO 1 H5) — the only self-shielded reference in the FERVEO STL ladder.

Why it works

The alloy system (with aluminum as the main deoxidizer) generates its own protective atmosphere without a gas bottle — weldable outdoors or in wind, where conventional shielding gas would disperse.

Fields of application

  • Joining low-alloy steel, especially thin sheet, including galvanized sheet, in all positions and with no shielding gas needed.

Advantages

  • No shielding gas required — weldable outdoors or in windy conditions where a conventional gas wouldn't be viable.
  • Easily removable slag, weldable in all positions.

Limitations

  • Without shielding gas, metallurgical control of the deposit is less precise than a gas-shielded flux-cored wire — for indoor shop work, the gas-shielded range (FERVEO STL BF31/MF10/RF14/MF35 FCW) usually gives a better result.
