Classification
| AWS class | EH 14 |
|---|---|
| EN ISO class | S 4 |
Purpose
- Bare solid wire for submerged-arc welding (SAW), the highest-manganese step of the entry ladder (AWS EH 14, EN ISO S 4).
Why it works
The highest manganese content in the S1-S4 ladder takes the unalloyed range to its top mechanical-strength step, once combined with the right flux.
Fields of application
- Machinery, tank, structural-steel, vehicle and shipbuilding fabrication, in carbon-steel joints at the higher-demand end of this range.

Cross-reference
| Replaces OE-S4 (Oerlikon) | Direct replacement |
Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.
Base metals
St 33-St 52HI-HIII17Mn419Mn5Feinkornbaustähle bis StE 420
Advantages
- The highest mechanical-strength step in the FERVEO SAW S1-S4 ladder.
Limitations
- Without flux it isn't a complete consumable — pair with a suitable FERVEO FLX flux.
- For alloyed steel (Cr-Mo, high strength), see the FERVEO SAW S2Mo/S2Si/CrMo/NiMo ranges.
