Purpose

  • 9% Cr, V-Nb-N microalloyed, bare solid wire for submerged-arc welding (SAW), P91 grade (AWS EB9, EN ISO S CrMo 91) — the top step of the FERVEO SAW Cr-Mo ladder.

Why it works

Adds vanadium, niobium and nitrogen to 9% chromium — the same microalloying system that makes the P91 grade the standard for supercritical boilers and very-high-temperature refining piping, here in submerged-arc form for mechanized welding.

Fields of application

  • Joint welding on P91-grade steam boilers and pressure vessels, heat-resisting and hydrogen-service piping in the petroleum industry, with scaling resistance up to approximately 600°C.

Advantages

  • The highest-alloy, highest-temperature step in the entire FERVEO SAW Cr-Mo ladder.
  • V-Nb-N microalloying — the same system that makes the P91 grade the supercritical-boiler standard.

Limitations

  • P91 grade: requires a welding procedure (WPS) specifically qualified for this steel, with preheat and post-weld heat treatment matched to its martensitic microstructure.
