Classification

| EN ISO class | S CrMo5 |
Purpose
- 5.8% Cr–0.6% Mo alloyed, bare solid wire for submerged-arc welding (SAW), P5 grade (AWS EB6, EN ISO S CrMo5) — one chromium step above FERVEO SAW CrMo2.
Why it works
The jump to 5-6% chromium (versus FERVEO SAW CrMo2's 2.5%) steps up hot-oxidation and high-temperature hydrogen-corrosion resistance once more, in line with the P5 grades used in refining and petrochemical service.
Fields of application
- Refining and petrochemical process piping and equipment in P5-grade Cr-Mo steel, exposed to high-temperature hydrogen.

Cross-reference
| Replaces OE-S1 CrMo5 (Oerlikon) | Requires WPS validation |
Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.
Base metals
12CrMo19-5
Advantages
- Higher hot-oxidation and hydrogen-corrosion resistance than FERVEO SAW CrMo2, P5 grade.
Limitations
- For the ladder's highest-chromium grade (P91), see FERVEO SAW CrMo91.
