Classification

AWS classEB 3
EN ISO classS CrMo2

Purpose

  • 2.5% Cr–1% Mo alloyed, bare solid wire for submerged-arc welding (SAW) (AWS EB 3, EN ISO S CrMo2) — the submerged-arc counterpart to the FERVEO CMO 2 electrode family, P22 grade.

Why it works

Doubling chromium and molybdenum versus FERVEO SAW CrMo1 steps up creep and hot-oxidation resistance once more — the P22 grade is the most widely used Cr-Mo steel in power-plant boilers, here in submerged-arc form.

Fields of application

  • P22-grade Cr-Mo steel boilers and tanks, high-volume mechanized submerged-arc welding.

Cross-reference

Replaces OE-CROMO S225 (Oerlikon)Requires WPS validation
Replaces OE-S1 CrMo2 (Oerlikon)Requires WPS validation

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Base metals

10CrMo9-1012CrMo9-10

Advantages

  • One step of creep and hot-oxidation resistance above FERVEO SAW CrMo1 — the most widely used boiler-grade Cr-Mo steel (P22).
  • Same base Cr-Mo grade as the FERVEO CMO 2 electrode family.

Limitations

  • For higher temperature duty, see FERVEO SAW CrMo5 and CrMo91.
