Purpose

  • Ni-Cr-Mo-W solid wire (alloy 686) with very high corrosion resistance, for demanding reducing and oxidizing environments.
  • Joining and surfacing with matching or similar alloys.

Why it works

Molybdenum (16%) combined with tungsten (3.8%) on a Ni-Cr base raises corrosion resistance beyond NIC 22 and NIC 59 — this Mo+W combination is what makes the 686 family one of the most corrosion-resistant nickel alloys available against simultaneously reducing and oxidizing media, such as those found in flue-gas desulfurization plants.

Fields of application

  • Chemical process equipment in simultaneously reducing and oxidizing environments.
  • Joining and surfacing with matching or similar alloys (2.4602, 2.4605, 2.4606).

Advantages
