Classification

Material no. (W.-Nr.)2.4627

Purpose

  • Ni-Cr-Co-Mo solid wire (alloy 617) for high-temperature service, with cobalt for creep resistance.
  • Joining alloy 617 and dissimilar heat-resisting alloys (800H/HP, 803).

Why it works

Cobalt (12%) is what sets this alloy apart from the rest of this datasheet's NiCr family — together with molybdenum (9%), it specifically improves creep resistance at sustained high temperature, the critical property in furnace and turbine components running for thousands of hours near the material's thermal limit.

Fields of application

  • Joining alloy 617 in high-temperature components (furnaces, turbines).
  • Dissimilar welding with heat-resisting alloys 800H/HP and 803.

Advantages

  • Cobalt (12%) for creep resistance at sustained high temperature — a property this datasheet's other NiCr alloys don't offer.
  • High toughness (KV 120 J) while maintaining mechanical strength (Rm 750 MPa).

Limitations

  • An alloy specific to sustained high-temperature service — overkill for general-purpose joints.
