Purpose
- Ni-Cr-Fe solid wire with Al/Y (alloy 602CA type) for the highest-temperature service in this datasheet, up to 1200°C.
- Welding NiCr25FeAlY (2.4633) and similar alloys in heat-treatment furnaces.
Why it works
Aluminum (2.1%) forms an adherent aluminum-oxide surface layer at high temperature, more protective and stable than the chromium-oxide layer formed by this datasheet's other NiCr alloys — hence it's the one chosen specifically for the most extreme temperature range (up to 1200°C), such as in heat-treatment furnace components.
Fields of application
- Welding NiCr25FeAlY (2.4633) and similar alloys.
- Heat-treatment furnace components operating up to 1200°C.

Advantages
- Highest service temperature range in this datasheet (up to 1200°C).
- More protective aluminum-oxide layer than the chromium-oxide layer of the other NiCr alloys.
Limitations
- Supplier datasheet gives no shielding-gas data (MIG or TIG) — confirm parameters with the manufacturer before welding.
- An alloy specific to extreme temperature — overkill for general service below 1000°C (see NIC 82).
