Purpose
- Ni-Cr-Mo-W solid TIG rod (alloy 22, Hastelloy C-22 type) for joining nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys and dissimilar metals.
- Joining Inconel-type alloys to carbon steel, low-alloy steel and stainless steel.
Why it works
Molybdenum (13.6%) together with tungsten (3%) and an extremely low carbon content (0.004%) minimize the precipitation of brittle intermetallic phases on cooling — this is why the alloy is used specifically for welding together similar high-nickel alloys (22, 625, 25-6Mo, 825), where metallurgical compatibility matters more than in a simple dissimilar joint.

- Joining nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys (alloy 22, 625, 25-6Mo, alloy 825).
- Dissimilar-metal welding: Inconel-type alloys to carbon, low-alloy or stainless steel.

Advantages
- Extremely low carbon (0.004%) — minimizes brittle-phase precipitation in the HAZ.
- Compatible with several closely related high-nickel alloys.
Limitations
- Supplier datasheet gives no yield-strength (Rp0.2) value — only Rm 690 MPa and A5 40% documented.
