Purpose

  • Basic-coated Cr-Ni-Si 22/12 electrode, scaling-resistant to 1000°C — for cast, forged and rolled heat-resistant steel.

Why it works

The Si-alloyed core raises high-temperature oxidation resistance above the rest of the 309 family — meant for the final pass on joints exposed to reducing or sulfurous gases, where that last layer specifically calls for this electrode.

Fields of application

  • Cast, forged and rolled heat-resistant steel, and heat-resistant ferritic Cr-Si-Al steel.
  • Annealing and hardening plants, steam boiler construction, crude oil and ceramics industry.

Advantages

  • Resistant to scaling up to 1000°C.
  • Suited to the final layer in joints exposed to reducing or sulphurous gases.

Limitations

  • Intended for continuous high-temperature service; if the part cools after prolonged exposure at 600–900°C, room-temperature toughness may drop due to sigma-phase formation.
