Classification

Material no. (W.-Nr.)1.4122

Purpose

  • Higher-hardness variant of INX 17Mo (47 HRC vs 43 HRC), specifically for water, steam and gas valve seating faces.

Why it works

Same Cr-Mo core as INX 17Mo, with more carbon — raises hardness and strength (Rm 750 MPa vs 700 MPa) at the cost of elongation (12% vs 15%); built specifically for seating faces, not structural joining.

Fields of application

  • Seating faces of water, steam and gas valves in unalloyed/low-alloy steel and castings.
  • DIN 1.4122 steel.

Advantages

  • Harder than INX 17Mo (47 HRC).
  • Higher strength (Rm 750 MPa).
  • Developed for service to 450°C.

Limitations

  • Lower elongation than INX 17Mo (12% vs 15%).
