Purpose
- Alloyed, very-low-hydrogen Mn-Ni-Cr-Mo basic electrode (AWS E11018-MH4, EN ISO E 69 5 Mn2NiCrMo B 42 H5).
Why it works
A more complex alloy system (Mn-Ni-Cr-Mo) than the plain HTS 690 sub-family, aimed at cast steel and quenched-and-tempered fine-grained steel welding where high crack resistance is needed with very low diffusible hydrogen.
Fields of application
- Cast steel and high-strength quenched-and-tempered fine-grained steel, including high-responsibility naval/structural quenched-and-tempered grades, and API 5L pipe up to X80.

Advantages
- Very low diffusible hydrogen content — key in high-strength cast and quenched-and-tempered steel, prone to cold cracking.
- Applicable to high-responsibility naval/structural quenched-and-tempered grades.
Limitations
- Toughness certified at -50°C, slightly less demanding than the HTS 690 sub-family (-60°C).
