Purpose
- Ni-Cr-Mo low-hydrogen basic electrode (AWS E 10018-G H4, EN ISO E 62 6 Z 1NiMo B 4 2 H5), one step above the 550 sub-family.
Why it works
Adding chromium to the Ni-Mo alloy of the 550 sub-family steps up mechanical strength once more, while keeping the FERVEO HTS ladder's low-temperature-certified toughness; it can follow the same pre- and post-weld thermal cycle as the base metal.
Fields of application
- Quenched-and-tempered fine-grained steels with high yield strength, and high-tensile heat-treating steels.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.
Base metals
The yield strength of 620 N/mm2 up to the quenched and tempered fine grain steelsThe tensile strength of the 780 N/mm2 heat treating steels.
Advantages
- One mechanical-strength step above the 550 sub-family, with the same toughness certified to -60°C.
- Can follow the same pre- and post-weld heat treatment as the base metal.
Limitations
- For even higher strength duty, see FERVEO HTS 690B5 and FERVEO HTS 830.
