Purpose
- Self-shielded hardfacing flux-cored wire (no gas, open arc), for manganese crushing hammers and rolls.
- Work-hardens in service — from 18-24 HRC as welded up to 45-52 HRC after in-service deformation.
Why it works
A high-manganese austenitic steel (Mn ≈15%, Cr ≈15%) — the same principle as Hadfield steel: soft and tough right after welding, but strain-hardens under repeated impact in service, reaching 45-52 HRC at the working surface. Being self-shielded (open arc), it needs no gas or bottle; weldable on DC+ or AC.
Fields of application
- Surfacing manganese rock-crushing hammers and rolls, impactor bars, gyratory mantles, and dredge components.
- Buffer-layer welding and surfacing on carbon and manganese steels.

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.
Advantages
- No shielding gas needed — open arc.
- Weldable on DC+ or AC.
- Work-hardens in service — gains hardness where impacts are heaviest.
- SEPRO approval.
Limitations
- Relatively soft as welded (18-24 HRC) — the 45-52 HRC working hardness is only reached after in-service deformation, not immediately after welding.
Notes
- The re-drying value in the original sheet (300°C/2h) belongs to neighboring covered electrodes in the catalog, not to this flux-cored wire — excluded here for product-form inconsistency.
