Purpose

  • Self-shielded, highly alloyed C-Cr-Mo wire (27% Cr), for hardfacing parts under severe abrasive mineral wear, heat-resistant to 450°C.

Why it works

Heavy chromium carbides give resistance to mineral abrasion; molybdenum raises hot-hardness retention to 450°C compared with Mo-free variants. Overlay thickness should not exceed 8 mm (2–3 passes, best at 2), and impact loading on the deposit should be kept as low as possible. The finest practical diameter with well-matched energy input gives a crack-free deposit.

Fields of application

  • Coal crusher cones and liners, crusher rolls.
  • Pumps, mixer parts, conveyor screws.

Advantages

  • Resists severe abrasive mineral wear.
  • Hot-hardness retention to 450°C (from Mo).
  • Rust-resistant deposit.
  • No shielding gas needed.

Limitations

  • Maximum overlay thickness 8 mm (2–3 passes, best at 2).
  • Needs matched diameter/energy input to avoid cracking.
