Purpose
- Oxy-fuel (gas) welding rod (EN ISO 20378 O I) — the lowest-alloy grade in the FERVEO GAS ladder, for engineering structures, boilers, vessels, and piping.
Why it works
With no strengthening alloy beyond base manganese, this grade gives an easy-flowing weld pool — the starting point of the FERVEO GAS I-V ladder, where each step adds alloying for more strength and a more controllable pool on demanding passes.
Fields of application
- Engineering structures, apparatus, steam boilers, vessels, and piping, general oxy-fuel gas welding.

Advantages
- Easy-flowing weld pool — a good choice for general oxy-fuel welding without special strength demands.
Limitations
- The lowest-strength step of the FERVEO GAS ladder — for tubes and sheets with higher root demands, see FERVEO GAS II and up.
