Purpose

  • Pure nickel cored stick electrode (AWS E Ni-CI, EN ISO E C Ni-CI 1) — joining and repair welding of grey, malleable and nodular cast iron, including joining cast iron to steel, stainless steel, or Monel.

Why it works

Pure nickel absorbs the carbon migrating from the cast iron without forming as hard and brittle a heat-affected zone as a steel electrode would — the deposit stays soft and machinable, greatly reducing the cracking risk typical of welding cast iron.

  • Joining and repair welding of grey, malleable, and nodular cast iron.

Advantages

  • Fully machinable deposit — the softest and most dilution-tolerant in the FERVEO FON family.
  • The most crack-resistant in the family — the default choice for cast-iron repair.
  • Versatile: beyond cast-iron-to-cast-iron, it joins cast iron to steel, stainless steel, or Monel.

Limitations

  • Requires specific technique: short beads and gently peening each pass with a hammer while still hot — skipping this greatly increases cracking risk.
  • Limited mechanical strength versus FON NiFe — not the choice when the joint must carry structural load, repair use only.
