Purpose
- Aluminate-basic submerged-arc (SAW) flux, basicity 1.6, low hydrogen — double-wire and narrow-gap welding of thick plate and spiral pipe, usable for pressure vessels with a suitable wire.
Why it works
Low hydrogen content combined with high impact toughness makes this grade suited to narrow-gap and double-wire welding of thick sections, where the larger, slower-cooling weld volume raises hydrogen-cracking risk.
Fields of application
- Thick steel plate and spiral pipe, double-wire and narrow-gap welding, pressure vessels (with a suitable wire).
Mechanical properties
Process
Advantages
- Low hydrogen and high impact toughness for double-wire/narrow-gap work on thick sections.
- Usable for pressure vessels with the right wire.
Limitations
- For higher-toughness pressure-vessel duty, FERVEO FLX BFPV (fluoride-basic) is the step up.
