Purpose

  • Tin bronze solid TIG rod (CuSn12P), higher tin content than CUP SN6 TIG — more hardness and strength for demanding bearings.

Why it works

Double the tin of CUP SN6 MIG (12% versus 6%) raises strength (Rm 390 versus 300 MPa) and hardness (100 versus 90 HB), at the cost of slightly less ductility (A5 25% versus 27%) — a harder bronze for higher-load bearings.

Fields of application

  • Joining copper-tin alloys, brass, cast copper-tin-zinc-lead alloys (DIN 2.1020-2.1093 and equivalents).
  • Surfacing on cast iron.

Advantages

  • Higher hardness and strength than CUP SN6 MIG (100 HB, Rm 390 MPa).
  • Phosphorus as a built-in deoxidizer — clean deposit.
  • Also suitable for oxy-fuel gas welding.

Limitations

  • Lower ductility than CUP SN6 MIG (A5 25%).
