Purpose
- Silicon bronze solid TIG rod (CuSi3Mn1) for joining copper and copper-tin alloys, surfacing on steel, and MIG-brazing of galvanized sheet.
Why it works
Silicon (3%) gives the weld pool fluidity and good low-temperature wetting — hence its characteristic use in MIG-brazing, where low heat input avoids damaging zinc coatings.
Fields of application
- Joining copper and copper-tin alloys.
- Surfacing on cast iron and unalloyed/low-alloy steels.
- MIG-brazing.

Advantages
- High ductility (A5 40%) and good toughness (KV 60 J).
- Suitable for MIG-brazing — low heat input, useful on galvanized sheet.
Limitations
- Not suitable for oxy-fuel gas welding.
