Classification

Material no. (W.-Nr.)2.0837

Purpose

  • 70/30 cupronickel solid TIG rod (CuNi30Mn1FeTi), seawater-resistant — joining copper-nickel alloys up to 30% Ni and dissimilar steels/alloys.

Why it works

The higher nickel content (30%) versus CUP NI10 MIG (10%) gives higher mechanical strength (Rm 400 versus 300 MPa) and better toughness (KV 100 J) — the 70/30 alloy is the more demanding grade for seawater piping and condensers, which is why the supplier explicitly notes its seawater resistance.

Fields of application

  • Joining copper-nickel alloys up to 30% Ni (DIN 2.0842, 2.0872, 2.0878, 2.0882 and equivalents).
  • Joining dissimilar alloys/steels (as a transition filler).

Advantages

  • Seawater-resistant.
  • Higher strength and toughness than CUP NI10 MIG (Rm 400 MPa, KV 100 J).
  • Suitable for joining dissimilar alloys.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for oxy-fuel gas welding.
