Purpose
- Low-hydrogen basic electrode (H4), vanadium-alloyed (0.5% V–1% Mo, AWS E9018-G H4, EN ISO E MoV B 42 H5) — for European vanadium-alloyed Mo-V system steels, a different family from FERVEO CMO's main Cr-Mo ladder.
Why it works
Vanadium, rather than chromium, is the alloying element here that gives creep resistance — a family of European steels that uses this Mo-V system instead of the Cr-Mo system of the FERVEO CMO 1/2/5/9 families. The recommended preheat and interpass temperature (200-300°C) is somewhat lower than for the P91 grade in FERVEO CMO 91B HD P2.
Fields of application
- European vanadium-alloyed Mo-V system steels, typical of turbines and boilers (see the datasheet's base metals).

Equivalence refers to the classification (AWS / EN ISO), not to product identity. In applications with a qualified procedure (WPS), validate the substitution before use.

Advantages
- Mo-V alloy specific to this vanadium steel family — not a generic substitute for the main Cr-Mo ladder (FERVEO CMO 1/2/5/9/91), but the correct choice for this distinct alloy system.
Limitations
- Not interchangeable with the main ladder's Cr-Mo grades (FERVEO CMO 1 and up) — verify the base metal is genuinely from the Mo-V family before choosing this electrode.
