Purpose

  • Solid Cr-Mo wire (5.7% Cr–0.6% Mo, EN ISO G/W CrMo5Si) — MIG/MAG welding of high-heat-resistant steels up to 600°C, for petrochemical process equipment.

Why it works

The higher chromium content (5.7%, versus 2.7% for the FERVEO CMO 2 family) gives the deposit resistance to high-temperature, high-pressure hydrogen attack — the same alloying principle as the FERVEO CMO 5B electrode, here in solid-wire form for MIG/MAG.

Fields of application

  • Petrochemical process equipment and high-heat-resistant steels, continuous service up to 600°C.

Advantages

  • Solid-wire format — mechanized/semi-automatic welding productivity and lower starting hydrogen than a covered electrode.
  • Same Cr-Mo alloy grade (5Cr) as the FERVEO CMO 5B electrode — consistent in-service behavior across processes.

Limitations

  • Specifically intended for pressurized-hydrogen or high-heat-resistance petrochemical service — for conventional steam boilers without that risk, the FERVEO CMO 1/2 grades are usually sufficient.
