Purpose
- Low-hydrogen basic (H4), low-carbon electrode, 1.1% Cr–0.5% Mo (AWS E7018-B2L H4, EN ISO E CrMo1L B 42 H5) — the low-carbon variant of the FERVEO CMO 1 family, for sour-crude and stress-corrosion service in petrochemical plants.
Why it works
Reduced carbon (≤0.05%, versus ≈0.07% for the rest of the FERVEO CMO 1 family) lowers heat-affected-zone hardness and its susceptibility to hydrogen cracking and sulfide stress corrosion cracking — the FERVEO CMO 1 family's choice for sour service and corrosive petrochemical environments, not just for heat resistance.

Advantages
- Low carbon — lower heat-affected-zone hardness and lower hydrogen-cracking susceptibility than the rest of the FERVEO CMO 1 family, key for sour service.
- Stress-corrosion resistance in aggressive petrochemical environments, in addition to the CrMo1 family's usual heat resistance.
Limitations
- Specifically intended for sour-crude or stress-corrosion risk service — if that's not your case, the family's standard versions (FERVEO CMO 1B HD P2 80/15) are the default choice.
