Purpose
- CuZn40 brass rod for brazing and bronze welding (AWS RBCuZn) — multi-purpose low-temperature alloy for steel, cast iron, copper, and copper alloys.
Why it works
Melting well below the base metal's temperature, this rod joins by brazing (capillary wetting) rather than fusion — allowing dissimilar or heat-sensitive parts to be joined with much less heat input and distortion than fusion welding.
Fields of application
- Brazing and bronze welding of steel, cast iron, copper, and copper alloys.

Advantages
- Low melting temperature — much less heat input and distortion than fusion welding.
- Multi-purpose: joins steel, cast iron, copper, and copper alloys with the same rod.
- Good wetting and joint filling, typical of brass brazing alloys.
Limitations
- TIG or torch (gas) only — the manufacturer states it is not suitable for MIG/MAG.
- Being a brazed joint rather than a fusion weld, joint strength is normally lower than a fusion weld of the base metal itself — not a substitute where full base-metal strength is required.
